Turkey restores Wikipedia after more than 2 year ban.

After Wikipedia refused to remove unflattering references and the content alleging that the Turkish government had given support to militant groups, the Turkish government banned Wikipedia in April 2017. For this reason, Turkish IP addresses were not permitted to visit the site in any language.

In December, the Constitutional Court of Turkey has found the ban violated the right to free expression protected in Turkey’s Constitution; therefore Turkey began allowing access to the site again on Wednesday 15th of January, after the Court’s ruling published in its Official Gazette.

Also, a case against the 2017 Wikipedia ban was also sued in the European Court of Human Rights in spring 2019, and it is still pending.
